My six month old beagle had a lovely white tip on her tail, until last month when to my horror a few back hairs appeared right in the middle of the white tip. I'm sure the patch is getting bigger. Is there anything i can do ? We weren't planning on showing her but could we now with this mark? I don't understand why its apperared as her mother and father both have perfect tails. I did buy her from a reputable breeder. Also she was also the only one in the litter that didn't have a white stripe up her nose, does this matter for showing ?

Oh! stern please, the 'stern' should have a white tip if it has a small black patch it is not ideal but not a disarster. No hound is perfect and if the bigest fault yours has is a small black patch on the end of it's stern you will be lucky. Relax and enjoy. Ja:)kie

Beagles don't have tails, they have STERNS....and no, I wouldn't loose sleep over it, there are a lot worse faults to worry about!

So i can show my beagle then, if i want to ? It was just something i wanted to know. I'm not that worried as she is a lovely little dog with an excellent temprement and i think shes great whatever.

Providing your dog is registered with the KC and does not have a contagious disease then you can show it no matter what colour it's stern is, but I'd steer clear of green, some judges are superstitious. Just look for the good bits and enjoy. :)
