Hi all, I'm new to this but would welcome shared stories/advice.

My 7 year old speyed staffie bitch took ill in December. Friday she sicked up food, Saturday she did not eat, Sunday 22nd we got up and she was yellow (jaundice).

Long story short, referred to Glasgow vet school, ultrasounds showed possible problem wilth bile duct between gall bladder and intestine, but nothing conclusive. Put on Hepatic (liver support) diet and medication. Reviewed last week and advised to gradually return to normal diet but still on Hepatosil and Destolit to support liver. (second ultrasound shows improvement) Blood work still abnormal.

Have followed the Alfie thread (poor soul) and saw advice of Milk Thistle and Alpha Linoleic Acids. Asked consultant and she is on the ALA (child dose) with his agreement but advised not to try milk thistle at this time. (Thank goodness she is insured!)

I've to take her back the week after next for more blood work, but please, any advice, personal experience etc would be appreciated. I have 4 assorted dogs, but she was a rescue and my babe and I am deeply worried for her.

Thanks in advance for your help

Sheilagh

Thanks Joyce,

I have begun browsing the site, and there is a lot of good info in general there. It will be handy to keep a note of as my crew are 5, 7, 11 and 14, so plenty of "seniors" in the family.
