Please could anyone inform me of price ranges for Labrador stud dogs. I have a two year old golden Lab who will be in session soon and I wish to breed from her. If anyone has any contact numbers or addresses of reputable breeders, I would be very grateful if you would pass this info onto me.

Best way to start, is to contact the breeder of your bitch who will be able to stear you the right direction, and let you know what lines you should use. Save you hours & hours of research. Jackie

Well Dizzy if Eileen bought her bitch from a responsible breeder the need to carry out the tests before breeding will have been explained. Jackie

just because she might of been bought from a responsible breeder. doesnt mean she"d for sure of had the tests, and if it where you or i, wouldnt we of been back intouch with our breeder about a stud dog, -dont think wed be advertising on aboard for one, do you?

You are correct Dizzy, and I don't think the cost of the service would be concerning me to the extent that I would be asking on here, I would be asking my chosen stud owner not shopping around, as to me the choice of stud would not include the price.

As a very general guideline the stud fee if straight cash transaction is usually about the price of a puppy. However there are other ways of arranging stud fees such as a pup in lieu of stud fees etc. Whatever you do MAKE SURE the agreement is in writing no-matter how friendly the other party is, so that there is a clear understanding what the stud fee entails.
If you scroll back for a few mths ago you will find the sort of problems that can occur without this written agreement and can lead to going to court.
I know it sounds a bit strong but believe me for the time it takes to draw up a legal contract (someone on here may be able to supply you with a copy) its worth it.

If you think you have a "golden" lab...then you do not know enough about your breed to be contemplating breeding, sorry

I am a breeder of Labradors, and my advice would be to learn more about your breed before you start breeding. Labradors only have 3 colours and they are "Black, YELLOW and Chocolate". If you are still calling your bitch "Golden" then you do not know anywhere near enough to be breeding from your bitch. Breeding is not just about mating your bitch to any dog and hoping for the best, Do you know what is needed to whelp a bitch, and what to do if anything goes wrong? I would sit back and enjoy your bitch as a pet and if you really want a puppy, find a good breeder and purchase one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A way to find a good stud dog is a shows, top breeders spend a lot of time and effort choosing a suitable stud dog, they dont just use "Any old dog"
