Me and the other half noticed the other day that Zeus ( 2 year old husky) seemed unusually quite, did not think any thing of it adn put it down to playing all day with the others had worn him out, ;)

Then the day after I noticed at the top of his head in between his ears there felt like there was a couple of little scabs under his fur, I looked through his fur though I could not see any thing, I put it down to fleas and told myself he would be going to the vets in the morning (thursday), well I had totally forgot about going tot he vets, and last night at 9 o clock I noticed that his head was bleeding I tried to bathe it to get to the problem but, as you can imajon trying to find the skin on a husky is very hard due to there two coats, so out came the scissors, the liitle bugga would not stop still, even with two of us holding him, so out came the shavers, he was very scared :( and I was getting upset at the fact he was getting stressed out, I tried my best to shave to the skin although I could not get right down, I looked at the blood stained area, the blood was only a small patch although it seems to have dried on in clumps making it very hard for me to see whats under neath it, the area is about 1 inch long and a few cm's wide. Zeus seems fine in himself and I can just about make out a few tiny cuts/bites.

I though it may been off playing with the rest of the dogs but, I thought it was unusual to be a dog bite etc.........

Any ideas whats the matter with him

Hiya. Molly was getting scabs regularly round her neck and at first we thought Barney had caught her. After trying different things we had her on a longish course of antibiotics and they seem to have worked. Only giving you this info in case he gets more scabs and you have the same sort of luck we had (ie not being able to cure it even with all that the vet was doing). If you need the name of the antibiotics at some time in the future if the scabs re-occur do let me know and I will give you the name (at work and cant remember!!). Hope it is a one off though.

Have you any bushes, i.e. roses, or trees in your garden, my dog had the same a while ago, and went to the vet he gave us maleseb shampoo, thinking it was the start of a skin infection, a couple of weeks later, I was watching the dogs in the garden and discovered this one rubbing himself up against the bushes, so he was scratching himself and as he had a thick coat (westie)I could not see the sores until they were infected by him scratching and rubbing against hydranga and the rose bushes, all bushes now out of the garden this is what it was, just thought I would let you know as this might be what your dog is doing.
