Hi, I've just got a new Spaniel dog out of our local pound. We were told she looks a bit like a working cocker, but we aren't sure want that is.
How does a Working Cocker differ from a normal Cocker Spaniel?

you will find that the legs are usually longer, but not always, and the ears are shorter, and they sometimes are smaller than the show type cocker, all i can suggest is have a look at some gun dog sites and see if your dog looks similar.
