Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Registry question

As many of you know I am planning on breeding my Australian Shpd bitch in the spring of 2004. The male I would like to use is still up for question. I have found one with bloodlines and temperment that will compliment my little girl's. The question I have however, is about his registration. My bitch is AKC and ASCA registered. He is not. He has Continental Kennel Club (CKC) papers. Do any of you know much about this registry? Is it reputtable? The dogs owner told me that I can get these papers for my bitch by sending in the numbers from the other registry and also a picture, then the pups can have CKC papers. I haven't heard much about this registry so I am apprehensive to go through with a mating to him. I am looking it up also in search engines, but just wanted to know what you all thought of it. Thanks!!

I beleive that AKC have arrangeements to resiter from other registries, could you perhaps ask them to register with AKC which is the main US registry, then you can AC reg your pups.

I have heard that the Continental Kennel Club is similar to the Dog Lovers Registration Club in the UK - ie you can register anything, any breed including "designer crosses" & that the pedigrees can be anything you like :-) Just do a search on Google - loads of sites some up advising people to avoid Continental KC pups as this registry is often used by puppy mills (same as DLRC in the UK)
