I need some advise please regarding Peaches my 18 week old pom bitch. She started to go quite thin in her coat about 4 weeks ago and now she looks more like a tiny scrawny alsation x puppy. (no offence to alsation pups lol) Her fur is smooth apart from around her ears is this right for her to look so bad as i know they go threw the ugly stage but this is so drastic ?
Also she was doing really well with toilet training she never did nothing in her cage at all and only had 1 accident if any a day but she has gone really bad she is constantly peeing everywhere. she is drinking a little more than usually but not excessive. She is restless in the evenings and pants quite a lot when the temprature is the same as it has been all day. she is quite boistrous and loves to play with her toys and me but in the evening she is really sulky and misserable. Am i worrying about nothing or are these normal things a pomeranian goes threw ? i have had dogs all my life but this is my first ever pomeranian .

it couldnt be her first season could it-?they cast coat out bigtime sometimes with the first, all thepuppy coat for adult, it could accountfor the mood swings too

it did enter my mind about her season but i thought she may be a little too young but i have been keeping a close eye on her just incase yet there is no visable sighns of her being in season as yet but thanks for the reply

they normally pee a lot more, might even mark spots outside, some can seem nervy or moody buliding up toa season, they also seem to wash there bits an awful lot more :rolleyes:

It sounds like early heat, but 18 weeks is a bit young.
But she could be developing into 'puberty' and switching from puppy coat to adult coat. Have you checked with her breeder or your vet for advice?
I only have known poms older than a year, so I don't know too much about their puppy growth spurts.

i did take her to the vets yesterday and i was gob smacked when he said (i have never come across a pomeranian before) i am not sure if the shedding of her coat so much i correct or not, all he did was offer me a few synulox tablets just incase she had a water infection regarding the waterworks. to be honest i came from the vets feeling quite uneasy. it is not as if i can change vets easily as i live in the country side and it is already 1 1/2 hours drive to the vets from where i live.
i was bought the puppy by my elderly mother i do not have her breeders contact details as she is only registered with the pet lovers reg. she is just a pet anyway but i wish i could find out about her background.
today has been a strange day she has been a real pain in the butt. weeing every hour inside the house standing infrount of me barking like a mad thing, refusing to go for a walk on the lead, decided to chew my kitchen cabinet and growled at me when i shouted no. but i still love her.

I've been thinking about your difficulties, especially since I don't think there's any long term Pom fanciers on here that might help your quandry.

Pomeranian UK has contact numbers for Pom club members and breeders.
You should be able to call some fanciers within the breed and ask for possible information or help with her health and behavior woes. I think this might be your best path for you and your puppy:)

Unfortunately, the Dog Lovers Registration is basically useless for information or aid on your dog. It's a registration that was set up by/for Puppy mills and Pet shops. If you do a search on here, there's been explanations, debates, and discussions concerning its legitimacy.
