I have a 6 month old Westie who is a virtual gas factory! Have changed diet three times and it doesn't seem to help! Are Westies prone to excessive gas? Please, any advice would be welcome!

Hi guest,
How quickly did you change your pups food? cos diet changes in a young dog, done suddenly will almost definatly affect his digestion!!!!!
I think westie do seem to suffer from dodgy tummies, but im not really qualfied to give advice here, as i dont have westies.

My own dogs seemed at one point to be suffering poor digestion, getting runny poos etc etc, smelly breaths adn wind. I changed to a raw or BARF diet wich seems to have sorted out their tummy issues completely.

I am not aware that Westies are prone to dodgy tummies! What are you feeding your Westie on? Does he have lots of treats/snacks?

Hi Farmrust,

Don't think westies are prone to tummy troubles at all, could you be changing your dogs diet too much and not giving it enough time to get used to the new diet.

Is it possible you are feeding the dog too much? is the diet too rich and too high in protien? too many treats and left overs?

Westies do not need high protein diets so that excludes a lot of the well know high protein diets.

My 2 westies never have wind , nor doggie tummies.

What are you feed you dog? How much?
