Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / dog run ground cover
- By guest [us] Date 31.12.02 19:53 UTC
What type of product works best to absorb odor, urine, etc. in a dog run area as a ground covering over the dirt? Wood chips? Gravel? Dirt only turns into mud after rain and then dogs go on the concrete....

Any suggestions sent to canyondmc@cox.net would be appreciated.

That is an interesting question and I would like to hear suggestions as well, please.

I woudn't recommend gravel - it's impossible to clean and very bad for feet. Probably the best is grass in the middle and concrete around the edges where they are more likely to wear it out.

How about paving slabs? They can be disinfected and if you don't concrete between them there may not be a need for drainage as the water might go between the cracks.

Looking outside at the lakes of water at the moment I would suggest cover the ground in boats!
