Topic Dog Boards / Health / Leukaemia in GSD & Arthristis
- By scoobymonk [gb] Date 31.12.02 14:53 UTC
My Mums GSD 5 yrs old has recently been diagnosed with Leukaemia of the liver. He is on medication for it and is generally doing quite well, but because of the medication for this he has had to come of his Rymadol for the Arthritis & is therefore in discomfort. Soon, because of his progress, the Vet would like to do a week on / week off with the Leuk medication and every other week have him back on Rymadol. I was just wondering if this was such a good idea as surely if on a Sunday for instance he has his last day of Rymadol for that week then on the Monday starts the Leuk medication again then wouldnt overlapping occur or does it go out of the system quite fast? Also does anyone have any knowledge/experience of Homeopathic medicine for Leukaemia & Arthrirtis, Ive heard of Green Lipped Mussle that is supposed to be quite good and also MSM & Glucosamine (we used for our last dog with arthritis).

Any feedback much appreciated.

Cortaflex is good, with Chondroitin & Glucosamine. Perhaps Metacam could be used instead of Rimadyl (don't know if that would be compatible with Leuk meds).
