i got a puppy in August when she was 8 weeks old and the breeder told me she has 1 year to register the pups and when she does she will then send me the kc form. She also put it on my receipt that the kc will follow. I still have not received the form and have also sent her a letter stating that i would like to start taking my pup to shows as she has been going to show training for a while. Does the pup have to be kc registered to show her.
thanks

Hi Guest, yes your pup has to be k.c. reg to show, did the breeder give you a letter stating k.c. registration applied for, if you have nothing in writing I would go to the Trading Standards and report him/her, did you know that Dogs are covered under the Sale of Goods Act. I would start writing to the breeder now, send the letter by recorded delivery and just ask when they are going to send you the k.c. registration documents as you feel you have waited long enough for them, it could be the breeder has forgotten, or, it could be they have had no intention of k.c. registering the litter in the first place, I do hope that they have just forgotten. In your 2nd letter to them I would let them know that you have been to Trading Standards and are taking advice from them. I know of someone else who did this, and as soon as trading standards were mentioned the litter was registered that owner waited 10 months for the paperwork. If you have the Sire and Dams name you can phone the registration dept of the kennel club 0870-6066750 and ask when the last litter was registered by this breeder and this sire and dam. Hope this helps you, please keep us posted, or , if you would like to keep in touch by e mail, just click on my name and my addy will come up.
Just read your post again and I see you have it in writing, I would write to her, and also contact Trading standards and take your receipt with you. Irene-Westyholm Westies
