HI MY NAME IS KEV GRAY. I JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT A BEAUTIFUL GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPPY (BITCH).I WOULD LOVE TO GET HER KC REGISTERED AS I INTENT TO BREED WITH HER.I BOUGHT HER FROM FELIXTOWE FROM A PRIVATE HOME,THESE PEOPLE ONLY HAD HER FOR TWO WEEKS AS THEY SAID SHE WAS TOO MUCH FOR THEM AS THEY HAD A SMALL CHILD.THEY GAVE ME PAPERS WITH HER BUT THE KC REG CERTIFICATE NUMBER WAS NOT ON THE PAPER WORK. I UNDERSTAND THAT ONLY THE BREEDER CAN REGISTER THE PUP,BUT I DONT KNOW WHO BRED HER. I HAVE 36 GENERATIONS ON THIS PEDIGREE CERTIFICATE (BETA FOOD FOR LIFE) AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CERTIFICATE THERE IS A NAME M. HARVEY.PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP AS I AM AT A LOSS.

THANKYOU. K.GRAY.

it sounds like youve been given her pedigree but not the kc reg, so shes either not registered, or the papers have been witheld for some reason,

Hi Kev

Enjoy your bitch as a pet and then, if, when adult she is an excellent specimen of the breed, you have managed to get her papers and had satisfactory health tests from her only then think about breeding from her, if then. There is a lot more to it than putting two dogs together and making a profit from the pups. Use your pup to learn about dogs in general and GSDs in particular

Contact the KC and ask if the litter is registered, she may not even be registerable. You won't have 36 generations on a Beta certificate (36 generations would probably paper the roofs of a row of terrace houses)
ie 1st generation 1 dog
parents 2
2nd generation 4 dogs
3 8
4 16
5 32
6 64
etc etc

36 generations??????I doubt it!
Why not go back to the people you got her from & ask for the papers? She is probably not even registered to be honest....and as for my thoughts on the people who sold her after two weeks....its not printable :(

I wonder if the 'original' owners even bothered to contact the breeder before selling her???? If the breeder is a good one, s/he likely thinks that the puppy is still with the first family. Very strange situation :( :( :(

Perhaps 'guest' is counting each couple noted as a generation, despite the doubling of grandparents, + 4 great grandparents + 6 great great grandparents which would actually equal around 5 generations. This happens all of the time in genealogy.
