I am not a breeder but is colour the most important characteristic to bring to your breed???

I would have thought temprament a far more valued characteristic as well as looking to achieve breed standard??

just a thought

Blue is genetically black. Another gene plays a part to 'dilute' the colour making the dog blue. If you mate a blue to another colour which does not carry the dilution gene then the most dominant colour will prevail and in this case it is black! However, all the puppies will carry the dilution gene so if you wish to get dilutes then you need to mate to a dilute colour or a dilute carrier.
However, as has already been pointed out health and temperament are far more important aspects of dog breeding than what colour it is.
May I suggest that you get yourself a good book on your breed and a good book on genetics sit down read them thoroughly before embarking on breeding any more puppies.

Are you looking to breed show stock or pets as blues can very often not be shown as they tend to have light eyes and not black so do not meet the standard as standard for staff states dark eyed only 1 in every 10 blues is dark eyed this is why they are not seen at show hardly ever.
