We are experienced dog owners in our fifties. We have been given 2 danes whose previous owner is going abroad. These 2 dogs are 2 and 3 yrs old The 3 yr old is 26 stones abd 2yr old is 14 stone. My problem is they have not had any traing AT ALL and I would eventually like to be able to take them walkies. They are not used to leads and are both very nervous of anything they dont know, such as brushes, shovels, hose pipes and doors closing. Does any experienced dane owner have any tips fpr me as to how to make them more confident and tips espoecially on how to get them lead trained and walkable ( without them taking me ) Thanking you in anticipation Kath

Kath  taking on one untrained, unsocialised Dane is brave but two...What sort of house do you live in, I'm trying to gage how much work on the dogs you will be able to do at home before venturing out to training classes and such like. You will have to start from scratch as you would with a puppy getting the dogs used to wearing a lead, do they have collars on?
I will see what answers you give before saying more :)
