We have recently lost our Jack Russell bitch at 14 years who we adopted as a pupply from the Rescue. We have one other JR aged 18! He is very lonely without his companion.

I am leaving this message as I know some breeders sometimes have older dogs to rehome. Ideally we would like a bitch aged between 1-5 or so. We do have a cat but he likes dogs! We have had had dogs all our lives (we are middle aged but do have 2 small grandchildren so the dog must be good with children. We also have horses so there is great fun to be had at the stables! We live in a detached house near the river in Berkshire with a medium size garden.

I have searched rescue sites to no avail - so many are not good with children or other dogs. We would be very interested in Westies, Norfolk?Norwich terriers, Cairn terriers, JRs (of sound temperament) maybe even Cocker Spaniels. We are not "get a dog for Christmas" people (we've always had them) but we are home for a couple of weeks having a quiet time which would be ideal to socialise new dog. (I work part time normally).

So if anyone out there has a little dog that would fit the bill who needs a good and loving home please email me: judith.herbert@costain.com.

We are willing to pay good price - but the dog needs to be within strking distance of Berkshire or Bucks.

Many thanks.
