My grandparents had a dog years ago that was abandoned on the road they lived on. Misty was a beautiful black dog, with silky, feathery hair and the sweetest temperament. Just recently, we believe we have identified her dominant breed as the "Markiesje?". The description fits her perfectly, and the picture in the book we found looks just like her. In doing research on the internet, I have discovered that this is a Dutch breed. Unfortunately, the only language I speak well is English, and the only languages I can read are English and Spanish! I have searched everywhere to find a breeder in the U.S. for this type of dog, but I'm coming up with nothing so far.

My grandparents are very close to losing their current dog, a short-haired Australian Shepherd mix that they also found abandoned. She is about 16 years old, was probably around 2-3 yrs when they found her, and is suffering from the aches and pains of old age. Consequently, they are considering adopting another dog and would very much like one similar to Misty. If you have any information that would be helpful, I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks for at least taking the time to read this!

It might be worth contacting the Dutch kennel club via their website: www.kennelclub.nl as in my experience most Dutch people speak very good English! They might be able to put you in touch with a breed club for that breed. It's a longshot!

I'm from Germany and spent alot of time holidaying in the Netherlands and English is their second language,it's compulsary for dutch school children to learn English. I've also emailed a few dutch folk (in English) and they all replied in English.
