Can anyone tell me the average weight of a full grown labrador male? I need to know to work out how much food I should be giving him.
Also how often do they need to be wormed/ de-flead? thanks

Depending on the breeding about 30 kgs. If he's from a working strain he'll end up lighter. Keep an eye on his shape and you'll see if you're over or under feeding him. You should be able to just see the outline of his ribs when he's running. (It's better to err on the light side with labs). Do you know about not over exercising him while he's growing?
Generally he should be de-fleaed every month if you're using the drops on the back of the neck and wormed every 3 months, but check with your vet and the medication pack.
I hope you have lots of fun with your puppy

Hi guest. You should be giving him food according to his weight now and not how big he is going to grow up to be. If you can weight him, then the back of the puppy food will have a chart that allows you to work out age and weight and then you adjust the feed accordingly as he gets bigger. The food companies do tend to err on the high side, so just watch his weight and if he seems to be getting a bit "portly", decrease his food intake.

I seem to remember that Pedigree complete puppy food bases its charts on the dog's adult weight, which struck me at the time as confusing.

Didn't realise that. Sorry. That does seem confusing.

I wonder if it's because if you base it on the size the puppy is now it might be different for different breeds. What I mean is if you have a puppy which weighs 5 kilos from a large breed it would need more than a 5 kilo puppy from a small breed, do you see what I mean, or is that even more confusing?

The bags that I used gave age and weight comparisons, so it took breed differences into account. But I was using large breed food, so maybe that was why.

Carrie is 27.5 kilos, she's a large built working type, but kept skinny - which is some feat, considering she's a canine hoover.
