We are currently looking for a Cocker Spaniel puppy.
My wife & I, our two children (Ellie & Megan), and our two cats live approx. 4 miles from Wolverhampton. We have friends who currently own a Cocker, and we have a relative who used to own several, and we think that this breed would be good for us.
Do your members think that this breed would be OK for our family? and if so, do any of them have puppies available for sale?
Many thanks

Hi
I own Cockers and think they are the perfect little dog. The only thing I would ask is how old are your daughters? Cockers do need considerable grooming which can be a real draw on what might already be a very full day. Like most dogs, if you have very young children, it can be better to wait until they are a little older, say around 5, 6 or 7, depending on the child. Very young children and puppies can create difficulties for each other - the kids won't leave the puppy alone, the puppy keeps biting the kids and it can snowball.
If however, you can manage this, then they are a great family dog. Totally mad while they are young but most seem to settle down into content dependable little souls who will love you forever. The hardest thing about choosing a Cocker is deciding what colour you want.
Have you actually tried getting a puppy pack from the Kennel Club. They will also give you a list of club secretaries who will be able to put you onto reputable breeders in your area.
Good luck in your search.
