I am considering taking 'think dog' canine psychology course with COAPE, written by the late John Fisher. Before I commit myself I would appreciate any feed back from someone who has done this course
THANKS R.

I did the "Understanding the Canine/Human Interface with the Animal
Care College under John Fisher and thought it was excellent. Really made me think.

HI

I have just finished the old "Understanding the Canine Human INterface" and found it excellent. John Fisher's writing is in many ways inspiring and although it doesn't make you an instant expert, yes it does make you think as Christine says.

I would recommend any of the COAPE courses, the tutors are incredibly helpful and know their stuff, through many years of practical hands-on experience, whihc they still have. Val Strong set up "Support Dogs".

Some of the directors were personal friends of his and have taken his work further, as it is now very slightly outdated, and John was looking into his ideas again before he sadly died a few years back.

I believe "Think dog" is the slightly revamped course.

Good luck.

HI Christine

Think it stands for Centre of Applied Pet Ethology and is run by Val Strong, Robin Williams, Sarah Whitehead and Peter Neville.

Thanks for the replies on COAPE - have they taken over from the Animal Care College or in additon to.

I started the Advanced C/H interface course but could not complete it because my daughter was ill and needing full time care but I was not very impressed with it (or perhaps I just did not gell with the tutor as I found her comments on my work somewhat ....... um ..... well, not exactly appearing to pertain to the work I had done.

John Fisher, on the other hand was a master hand at trading insults( :-)
) and I felt he got the best out of me.

How did anyone else get on with the advanced course?

The Animal Care College is still goin g strong! They are the bods i have done the CHI with, and i am booked to go onto the Advanced Think Dog, with COAPE as I am hoping to get Sarah Whitehead as my tutor.

I SO envy you, having had John fisher as your tutor, he was well known for his wicked sense of huour wasn't he!!

Who was your tutor for the Advanced course? Did you astart that with the ACC?
