Today we had to say goodbye to our old cross breed Scamp. He was diagnosed with failing kidneys almost four weeks ago and as he was still eating in no pain and still lively we took him home to spoil him and try to keep him comfortable as long as possible however this week he became incontinant which began to cause him to become too distressed .He was thirteen years old and had grown up with my now six foot 17 year old son.A gentleman to the very end sleep well my boy.

So sorry Gillian. You gave Scamp the gift of going with his dignity intact and having failed to do that last service once I know how important it is.

Gillian, I'm so sorry. I know it's no consolation at the moment that you did the right thing for him. It doesn't make it any less painful. {{{{{hugs}}}}}

Gillian

I'm so sorry to hear about Scamp - it's so hard - but you've got all those memories "don't cry because he's gone, but smile because he has been with you".

Hi
So sorry to hear of your sad loss today. We lost our GSD X in June, she died overnight at the vets. Unfortunately, we didn't know she was that ill, otherwise we may have had her at home rather than leaving her to go to sleep in a place she wasn't used to. We now have our Amber, our Yellow Labrador pup, but we will never forget Sheba.
Time does heal.

I am truly sorry I lost a GSD with kidney failure 2 years ago, I gave him sleep also, I loved him too much to let him suffer anymore, be happy in the knowledge that u loved him and he shared his life with you

I lost my beloved GSD girl on 3rd December, so I know exactly how you're feeling. I feel a kind of insanity at the moment, but it is getting a little easier. You cared for him all his life, and in the end it is the greatest gift that we can give. I found the reply from "Loki's Mum" wonderful, it gave me comfort too.

Been there too - its awful - Loki's Mums sentiments really hit home and very true. My advice is go looking very soon for another dog, not to replace him, but it will help 100% - the six weeks I had with no dog to walk and love were just so long and terrible.

Best wishes
Shirley

I feel really sorry for your loss, and I also know what you are going through.
- By crosdobs [gb] Date 23.12.02 02:11 UTC
Try and not to morn for him but instead celebrate the life and time you had together the joy and fun he brought to your family the love you and friendship you sheared the good times and the bad he might not be with you physically any more but I am sure he will always be in your hearts and your minds he has not gone anywhere his still there with you, But you just can not see him any more, He will always be with you every time you think of the walks on summer days the funny little things he use to do,
The places were he laid and played
Please don’t remember him with tears and sadness
But just the happiness that he brought and sheared.

Thinking of all your loyal and true 4-legged friends no longer seen but always deep within.
