Yes there are special shampoos for dog and there are different one for different coats. Try a search on line I'm sure you will come up with sites that have a choice of dog shampoos. I use Shaws but I expect other will be just as good.
I don't think it is a good idea to use human shampoo on a dog unless you have to because of a rolling incedent.

Hi , I keep American Cockers, in full show coat, so my bathing regieme is as involved as anyones. My lot are bathed every three to four days. That said, I do not subscribe to the theory that 'people' shampoo is unsuitable for dogs. I use a supermarket own brand for dry hair, but I get through loads of balsam type hair conditioner.
I use a litre size plastic jug and I dilute the shampoo 1 in 10. The conditioner I use neat, and I put lots and lots on.
You could try using a leave in spray conditioner as a detangler. Also a soft slicker brush used gently.
My Yankees are in splendid show condition on this regieme.
PS the Fit & Fertile might have something to do with it I suppose.

Don't think human shampoo will effect the hair, but it can the skin, mind you if you bath that often it probable does not matter as before there is any effect on the skin along comes another bath. Unless you or your dogs have special needs I would only bath when it becomes needed for the comfort of the household or is needed for showing purposes. Mine are bathed about 3 or 4 times a year. :)
