Hi - have never really writen before - but I've got a 6 month old Westie who has stoped weeing and going for a poo. The last time she poed was yesterday morining - just a tiny bit - and as much as I'ver tried to incourage her in the garden, she hasn't weed since yesterday lunch time. It seems so unusual for his to happen. Shes drinking ok - so surly it has to come out eventualy? I'vr never had a bitch before - so its hard to know quit whats going on. I mean she may be comming into season - as her mood is much calmer. Do bitches retain water before they come into season like women? !!! I just wish she would start her season so I could have an answer to it all!!!!!
Hope fully someone will know what this is all about ? I'm really starting to get worried - thanks - Karen

If your'e absolutely certain that she hasn't been to the toilet since yesterday then I'd get her along to the vets as it doesn't seem right that she could hold that much urine and still be drinking.

Hope she's ok,

Fiona

Hi - Ive checked her sleeping room and there is no sign of a wee - and obveously I 'd see a poo!! - reckon I will take her to the vet - it just seems as though I spend my whole time there!! - She did have some blood in her poo last week so we took her along and they gave us some special Hills food and some tablets and that cleared up - but maybe this is related. I don't know. Thanks for your help - loks like thats another £20 gone! Its at times like this when i wish I'd trained to be a vet!!

Hopefully it's nothing but it would make sense to pop her along to the vets just to be on the safe side. The not pooing isn't necessarily a problem - although I noticed on another thread she'd been constipated - but it's the not weeing that's bothering me. If the money is a problem, and it is for most people this time of year, why not give them a ring and ask to speak to the vet on the phone - the worst they'll do is ask you to come in but they might be able to help without seeing your puppy.

Please let us know how she gets on,

Fiona

Hi again!!! Fom what I could see she has just been for a wee! Its so difficult to tell if they do actualy go when they r so small and low to the ground! Still a bit weird though - Will call the vet anyway - as she has always had trouble with digestion and seems to be bitting her bum alot too so i reckon there's a blockage again. will let you know!
ta.
