Barbara Walters has a dog of mexican origin. Can you please tell me what breed that is? I have two young boys who are in deserate need of a pet. I understand that Barbara's dog is very good with children.

Barbara Walters is a journalist in the states. Some people thinks she is all that. I think she is a number one #%!*$ myself. Don't like her at all. I can't even imagine the woman having a dog or any pet for that matter. Sorry but if the dog looks anything like her, then that's one ugly dog!!!!! Did I say that noooooooo. Shirl :o

Now Shirl, she's not that bad :) I might not like what she says all of the time...but I do have a lot of respect for her work especially considering that she was the first woman journalist to become successful in a very male dominated profession. It was a long hard road and she did make some serious sacrifices that aren't considered 'normal' for a mother/wife. She set the stage for other female tv correspondants like Lesley Stahl and Christianne Amanpour to be able to go out, do their jobs, and be accepted in the field.

I liked her when she co-hosted 20/20 with Hugh Downs. They made a really good pair. But I haven't been able to watch it since he left. AFN moved the program over to it's sattelite news feed which we don't get :( I don't like her person-to-person interviews. Never really care about the celebraties  :D

But really, picking a dog breed because someone famous has it and supposedly its good with children is not really that great of an idea. She doesn't have children living with her at all....she's in her early seventies and has different criteria for a dog than someone who has two young children.

If it is a Xolo, that dog breed has to be constantly protected from the sun (hairless) and kept warm during the cool/colder days. They are also not that sturdy of a dog. It might be great with children, but I don't think children are great with it -- too rough and tumble. I met 2 Xolos in New Mexico at a dog show. Sweet dogs, but not very large or strong. More of a companion dog than anything else. Great for someone to carry around and a portable heating pad :)
good luck on your search.
toodles
