please can anyone reccomend any good kennels in the dorset area we are in weymouth it is for a 8mths old retriever puppy, and john or leigh do you think this will do him any harm. I have never had to use kennels before , i would really like one that deals with retrievers. Also thank you for the advice on him chewing.

Hi Lynne,
welcome back to the forum. Have you thought about joining us? If you register then you can join in with the thread that you post :-)

It is always stressful leaving you dog in kennels for the first time, you can't help but worry can you! I think that the first hurdle is to find a kennels that you are 100% comfortable with. Hopefully someone can recommend a good kennels to you in your area. If not, go and visit a few. You will get a feel for them and the staff the minute you get out of the car. Ask as many questions as you like and if you are not happy in any way , then go and look at others.

I am very fussy who I will leave my dogs with and travel a good 50+ miles to one that I am 100% happy with. For my own peace of mind it is worth the extra hassle.

I very much doubt that your puppy will come to any harm at all by being left in kennels :-) infact I am sure that he will have a lovely time !! I think that you are very wise getting your puppy used to kenneling at such a young age. No one knows what the future will bring and if something does crop up and you do need to kennel your dog in an emergency, then knowing that they are happy in that enviroment will be one less thing to worry about. :-)

Try not to worry about him. He will have a ball!

loui has had to go to hospital today to have a small lump removed from under his belly it is right near his nipple the vet assures us that it is nothing nasty. He also tells us that they are very common in young dogs but i still cant help worrying about him the small dog sam has just been sat by my feet as much to say where is my friend gone. I can ring at two and if all is okay pick him up at four, so fingers crossed. lynne

Gawd ...dogs, who'd have them! I am sure that he will be fine, but you can't help but worry about them can you. Let us know how he gets on Lynne. :-) Leigh

You have my sympathies Lynne. I'm sure we have all sat at home for a day whilst one of the dogs was at the vet having some kind of operation and the time just drags. I'm sure he will be ok, let us know how he goes on.

just to let you know that loui came home at four today and he is fine. The vet said to keep him calm but that is easier said than done.
