I have been offered a G/Retriever / Labrador cross at a price of £250. Having been on the lookout for a puppy of either breed for sometime I wonder if anyone could tell me whether this is a good cross. Are there any known health problems etc? Also is this a fair price to expect to pay? Any comments welcome.

Guide dog for the blind do this cross often. It should be fine, but I would want to know that both parents were hip scored (with a score below about 20) and eye tested.

Whether it is a fair price for a crossbreed, well if you think it is.

If it is a baby pup that has been really well reared with no expense spared, then it will have cost the breeder around a £1000 to rear this one off litter, even without a Stud fee to pay out.
