I’m new to ChampDogs and have recently joined because my dad recently lost our beloved 11yo miniature schnauzer Poppy (sadly she got liver cancer).
My dad has been surrounded by dogs since he was 7yo - initially it was Labradors, but in the late 80s he got his first miniature schnauzer (Ben) and since then my family have had miniature schnauzers since they are such a wonderful, intelligent and lovely breed.
Since we lost my mum 5 yrs ago, having a dog companion has meant even more to my dad and Poppy and him were inseparable - Poppy was like his shadow (i.e. always there ❤️). Since losing her he’s somewhat lost and therefore we are searching for a reputable breeder of miniature schnauzers.
I understand from communicating with others that there may also be the possibility of rehoming, which my dad is open to (we previously rehomed a mini schnauzer - Tilly).
Just a thought - are you able to contact the breeder of the Schnauzer you had previously? He/she may have something to offer youi, or know of one needing a home?
Also Breed Rescues can usually point people in the right direction.
I'm going to Bristol this weekend to meet my new grandson, born on the 3rd birthday of his sister . My son and family have a rescue miniature schnauzer called Minnie -I call her Minnie Mouse. She is a darling and was deffo their baby before the human babies came along- she seems to be their older sister. Anyway, I will ask my son and wife where they got Minnie from.
