I don’t like the idea of putting collars on newborn pups and in ‘the old days’ I used to use nail varnish - but I wondered if there’s a safe non-toxic marker pen that can be used to identify the puppies?

There are lots of non toxic marker pens but they seem to be washable. How about non toxic fabric pens ?

I have always used a strand of double knit wool.  It's changed every few days, and as mine is a coated breed so I leave a long tag  that can be easily seen.
