I was a member of Champdogs many years ago but when I lost my old dachshund, it was too hard. I'm back now with a border terrier and maybe soon a beagle if all goes well. I'm still in touch with my borders breeder but wonder if my dachshund breeder is here.

Her show name was Brockbane Blue Bonnet and her pet name was Bronwen. She lived to be almost 20 and was the most wonderful dog. I still cry when I think about her and she's been gone 15 years. If you bred her, thank you. She was my companion from 4 years old until I had to let her go a month before her 20th birthday.  She changed my life, supported me through some very dark times and made me feel loved every day.  I will always miss her.

Phoebe the border terrier became my girl when I lost Bronwen. She's 14 now and her pedigree name is Eveview Sunshine, bred by Tracey Ritson. Another cracker of a dog and I'm so grateful that Tracey allowed me to take her. We've had a good 14 years together walking tens of thousands of miles. She's in her twilight years so shorter walks but she still loves life.

I used to spend hours on Champdofs and I hope it's as good as I remember.  So hello from Phoeve and I. Two old ladies together.

I don't think so. Something in the back of my head says it was a Stephen. She is in the KC yearbook but I'm about to move so it's packed. A friend found her in the gallery but I'm not that clever!

In 1986 the KC produced a Directory of Affixes. Brockbane is included as an affix granted for life - as is my own. The holders at that date were Mrs I V Beynon and Mr E E Gross. Of course, given the lapse of time, the affix could have been passed on to another family member under the present conditions, ie.subject to Annual renewal.

I put Brockbane Dachshunds into Google and found this

http://www.showdach.co.uk/championsgallery/sw_champions/standardwirechampions/A_to_F/brockbane_red_rondo.htm

Which would confirm the two names already suggested for this affix here.

However, another one, with a different breeder (something reminds me of a Barbara Golding in Bassets..... but her affix was Beacontree)

As the Beynon/Gross partnership bred both parents they would have been able to register the puppy under their affix. The bitch could have been on breeding terms, or the puppy a stud arrangement. They used some very nice sires - Inca was fabulous.

Hello everyone
I'm new on here. We are boxer lovers and sadly we recently lost our beloved boy he reached the age of 11 and a half. We brought him from belire boxers in Spain does anyone know if they are still in business  as the website doesn't have contact details? we brought our 1st boxer in 2008 and unfortunately didn't do our research and she had health problems, so when we decided to get another we done our research and came across belire boxers. we are currently looking for boxer puppy female with maybe letting her have 1 litter does anyone have any recommendations

many thanks

As you say there is no contact details on their website.
With regard to having a bitch and possibly breeding from her why do you feel you may do that ? It's a big commitment and if you wanted to keep it would be better to have another from her breeder than risking her health just so she has a litter.
There is info both on this website and on theirs talking of what is needed to breed.
Also why not look at the breed club and the breeders section her to find good breeders in the UK. Importing a pup will be costly and not easy.  Things will have changed since you bought yours in too

the reason for trying to contact belire boxers was that we feel they are good breeders with good bloodlines and health was important to them, for example being jkd free is something i don't see uk breeders expressing and as u say things have changed, in the uk focus seems to be on heart scoring and inbreeding percentage but i do agree finding a good uk breeder would be awesome as long as i can be confident in the health aspect and would be easier for us as for us breeding isnt an important factor it would be nice to experience this and just to have a boxer healthy enough to have the option in the future to breed our next dog but definitely not the most important part in our decision and may not even happen i guess I'm just nervous about picking the right breeder and was going down the safe route.

Just to suggest you start a new thread on this subject?

To add, I wish those breeders now in Spain only, didn't crop the ears of their Boxers.  It's a personal preference, but I much prefer to head of a Boxer with natural ears.

I prefer dogs to have ears and tails as they were born unless there is a medical or working reason

If you do manage to contact these breeders you gave to bear in mind, that if the breeder crops their dogs ears then you will have to ensure the puppy you buy isn't cropped as importing cropped dogs is illegal in the UK

>as importing cropped dogs is illegal in the UK

Sadly this isn't (yet) true. There were proposals mooted under the Johnson government to ban their import but this seems to have been put on the back burner, and buried with the general election.

I wouldn't be happy to deal with someone who.crops ears.  There must be good breeders of boxers in the UK. Breed club be worth talking to as would speaking to people in the breeder section here
Find out exactly what health tests are required / advised.
Next years shows are also good places to learn things

http://www.thebritishboxerclub.co.uk/health.html. this might be of use and if i have understood correctly may explain while jkd isn't regular tested for in the UK. It appears that there is still evidence to gather and jkd free is not a status that should be claimed. However there are other tests that should be done before breeding
The London breed club also has info on jkd and other tests definitely worth reading as may guide you as to what tests you should be looking for here

This was a private members bill & was only presented to parliament in March 24 so not buried, private members bills can take several years to be voted through.

Nothing to do with Johnson's spell of being Prime Minister.

I jumped the gun as the reading of the bill was due just before the GE & didn't happen because Sunak didn't give it time

This was published in 2021.

Publishing & getting time for it to be read are two different things

Very small e mail link on website. Looks like they went abroad to go on docking their dogs & they now crop as well

i know. That is why I said that "proposals were mooted" under the Johnson Government. I didn't say that it was put before parliament. It's still nowhere near becoming law, sadly.
