Never had an issue with them before. A few weeks ago I noticed one of mine was biting round thier bits, had a look couldn't see anything, but after a good brush found fleas.
All three bathed and treated with capstar, sprayed house, washed all bedding on highest temp, steam cleaned. We only have hard wood flooring a few rugs so thought I'd got on top of it.
Today found fleas again on one of them.
Does anyone have any recommendations on the best products? And how to get rid of the little buggers.
I dont want to start a monthly treatment program as i try to avoid unnecessary chemicals on my dogs where possible.

Use Program (oral tablet) monthly for at least 3-4 months to break the flea life cycle. I'd also give another Capstar.

The Capstar kills all the adult fleas but it doesn't kill the eggs, so they will hatch and continue things. Program kills the eggs - but not the adults. So you need both Capstar and Program. If you did Capstar yesterday, I'd do another Capstar today (you can do that, it specifies on the instructions) and then a Program tomorrow and again in a month's time - and so on for a few months.

You will need to use something regularly for the next few months to break the flea life cycle. Then you can go back to being pesticide-free.

The good news is you don't need to use spot ons or sprays, you can just use oral meds for fleas...

Thanks for the reply.
I wanted to avoid spot on treatments so your suggestion of program oral tablet would be preferable.
I've bathed them all again today not a problem in this heat, but I've still found some on one of them since the bath. I'm getting obsessed!
Is this extreme heat having an effect on them being more prevalent?  as I've never has an issue before, and we live in a rural area and walk in fields and woodland daily.
I did used to use csj's billy no mates herbal mix years ago as a preventative, do these herbal options have a good success rate?

I’ve never had much success with natural products. I think it maybe reduces the chance rather than totally preventing.

It only takes a couple of fleas that you miss which breed very fast before you see anything and it can get out of hand fast. So might not be the heat…

Having only had fleas once years ago and them getting out of hand. I now have indorex stored away for a moments notice (doesn’t help having a relative who’s cats are covered and I’m sure he brings the little blighters with him when he comes to visit as he’s also covered in bites when he comes)

But if they have fleas I’ve found the dorwest garlic and fenugreek brings the majority of fleas to the surface in a matter of minutes after having the tablets with their breakfast…I was shocked when it first happened. Don’t think it prevents them from having them though. I only treat as I don’t like giving them lots of chemicals, same with worming we just do a count if anything…which I’d do after fleas incase the fleas have given worms.

123 - as regards to program is that the same tablet vets give then, I’ve always given capstar then gone to the vets for the tablet that killed eggs, hadn’t seen you could buy online as I’ll get it in for when I do need it…they seem to always get the odd one when we’re in wales or Scotland

Yes both Capstar and Program are available online without prescription - although last time I checked Program was out of stock so I hope it's going to stay available.

Argh, I’ve looked and can only find program to buy with prescription (unless the place you usually get it sells without prescription)…still would work out a lot cheaper though so I don’t mind just slightly more faffy

I think that must be the Program Plus or whatever? It has milbemycin oxime added, which makes it prescription.

This is the original Program: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Program-Large-Dog-Tablets-409-8mg/dp/B003XW2YPG/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Unfortunately I also can't find it now, so perhaps they've stopped making it by itself.

The active ingredient is lufenuron if you can find another product with that in...
