Has the kennel club released the first Breed Records Supplement for this year yet? Or have I missed it?
I know 2021 was a tad different to usual years.

I’d ring the kennel club to ask but don’t fancy waiting hours on end for reply.
Thanks

Yes they released them yesterday I think (at least that’s when I saw them and word spread in my whatsapp group)

Here’s the link: https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/media-centre/breed-registration-statistics/

Of course the popular breeds sky rocketed last year, I was shocked at just how many more Labradors were registered, nearly doubled considering 2012-2019 was averaging 35,000- last year was over 61,000. Obviously cockers, springers, goldens increased by quite a lot, even vizslas have a big increase. Was surprised by the mini smooth haired dachshund too…quite worrying!

Makes you wonder how many pups were born that weren’t registered, as I’ve seen more pups that are crosses or unregistered out and about than ones that are.

I wish kc would publish just how many registrations came from fully health tested parents…but we all know that won’t happen.

Edited to say: don’t think I read your post right, no data included for 2022 yet - a friend of mine managed to contact them though…they said due to covid it’s taking longer than usual to get all the data ??!!
Grinds my gears that covid is still being used for companies to fall behind, I would imagine their figures probably still aren’t 100% accurate as people from the last couple years are still trying to register their dogs properly through them

I would love to see a two - tier registration system, with a higher status being awarded to fully health tested stock, where that is appropriate. When the vets report how many of a particular breed were found to have inherent problems, it should be possible to demonstrate the value of health testing, and buying from a responsible breeder.

Absolutely, though I'd also like pass/fail allocated to everything (including hips which would be more difficult.) No point just being tested, it needs to be easy for the general public to know if results are good or not.

Well apparently the quarter 4 for 2021 is due this month. The first quarter of 2022 isn’t due till September!
Nice of the KC to tell it’s subscribers of this!
