Hi, puppy is almost 6months old now we go to bed (he is in his crate in the bedroom) around 10-1130pm he sleeps ok very fidgety but wakes up very early sometimes before 5am sometimes we get a good day and he makes it to before 6am he goes to the toilet just before we go up etc For love nor mobey we cannot get him to sleep any later ive tried ignoring him but i feel cruel he maywell need a wee after that length of time once out he falls straight back to sleep on the couch or floor next to me downstairs. If i take him back to crate all hell breaks loose and he wakes the whole house and street. If i was to try a bed outside the crate next to our bed and corden off the part of the room He walks around and doesnt realise its time to sleep but as soon as in crate settles down u till that time i know its a long haul with puppies but none of my previous pups ever woke like this after they were toilet trained but they were left down stairs to sleep this is the first ive had in my room because he is so stressy if im not around (working progress) very difficult one too but any advice would be great could he would he grow out of this? Thanks

What are you going to do when the clocks change? Will you confuse him?

This is normal for his age.  Teething is ongoing and adolescence is beginning, and pups struggle with the developmental changes they're heading into.

Just roll with the punches for a bit - leave him out if that helps him settle, stay with him, whatever it takes for a few weeks to get him back into the rhythm and it'll pass.

It's often a bad teething patch so trying a cold carrot or a chew can be a lifesaver.  It was with Pod.  Took me 3 days to work out what was going on because he was waking at 3am and I was a zombie  But on the third day I twigged, gave him a cold carrot, he chomped it and went straight back to sleep.

Pop him outside for the loo and straight back in with a chew to settle with either in a crate or pen, basically where you want him. A fairly long lasting chew, maybe a yakker or similar.

I cant remember if ive said this but, what food is he on. I had a persistant early riser who stopped this when i changed her food, im talking 3am shouting BREAKFAST NOW. Or maybe try adding some pro biotic to his current food.

Ive sent you a PM, not sure if you've seen it.

You might need to change his feed time completely?

I think maybe she means, you'll get him into the routine you want and then have to start over again when the clocks change.

What I did with my boy who was waking up early was for a week I set me alarm for half hour before he was normally waking to make sure I get up before he started. After a week I put the alarm back by 5 mins for a couple days. Then everyone days of i was still waiting up first I'd put it back another 5 mins.
Worked for me and by the end of it be was sleeping till 7am.

This surprises me, I’ve got a pup the same/similar age to you and her back teeth are bed atm. Maybe it’s worth trying again? Or giving him a couple ice cubes? You’ve mentioned before that your husband comes in from work at 5am, this will be disturbing the pup no doubt (and obviously unavoidable), so either you try him on your bed and stay up until he settles and you know he’s not going to jump off (again you’ve mentioned your bed is high). Or like someone said previously you give in for the time being considering he’s still very young. He won’t eat a chew and you don’t want to leave him downstairs on his own to settle so the only other option is to be awake with him. If you feed him and do stuff with him then hopefully by 7am he’s ready for another good couple hours to sleep which means you can go back to sleep too?

I'd pick the earliest time he's woken and go with that.

Sorry did you get up and start the day when you set alarms earlier? Or just wake and settle again?
