Hi I am a widow living with my grown up daughter in the New Forest. Having lost our Border Terrier, Fudge, just before Christmas 2020, we now feel ready to welcome another dog into our family. Before Fudge we had a Cavelier King Charles Spaniel named Lady who we picked out of 300 Caveliers at a CC show. She was eleven months old and the breeder after two weeks deliberation decided to let her go as she was not keen on showing( although much to the breeder dismay she won best puppy with us as she was overjoyed to meet up with breeder again !) Part of the agreement meant we had to breed a litter the following year and let the breeder have pick of the litter. This we did and the arrangement worked well for both of us. Would be keen to have similar arrangement with either Cavelier or Border Terrier breeder if we are unable to purchase a suitable bitch puppy.

Thank you good advice but as Fudge was 13 when she died and our Cavelier joined our family about 32 yeas ago and died 14 years later they are both long gone.

Right I see the problem . Contact the breed clubs and have a chat with them . Just be aware that which ever breed u finally  have please make sure that health tests have all been done on the parents regardless of age of pup .
