Topic Dog Boards / Health / Update on bulging discs

We are 6 months since diagnosis of ivdd and she is doing well but she's not keen on lead walking but will walk around the house even attempting to run which I don't encourage. If anyone has experienced this, how long was it before they got back to normal. I know I still have to be careful as there is always a chance another disc could go. It is so worrying but I want her to have a near normal life. Thanks

That is a question for the neurologist, to be honest.  Each case will be different and they'd be best placed to advise.

I think I would avoid lead walking if she isn't keen and just take her sonewhere in a car or if that's not possible maybe a buggy then let her potter around
As nikita says u need advise from the vet she is under as they know her medical history

That's what I have been doing. She gets out of the buggy to do her toilet. I've asked the neurologist about physio but she just keeps saying maybe later

Think it's safest just to wait which I vam imagine is hard but hopefully, she is pain free now and is still out and about so likely to be very happy

That's interesting.  When River was diagnosed with a chronic bulging disc, physio was immediately put in place.  Same with Ren recently when she had an acute disc episode (although she's a self-help job with guidance because of handling issues).
