Can anyone recommend the best ear wax removal for my dog De bordeaux?? And were to buy it? I have seen some at pets at home but not sure if my girl will be OK with it! I have booked in her the vets for Tuesday but I have lost confidence in them to be honest as I when I rung they couldn't even find her details

Wait for the vets because if her ears are infected then you'll need more than an ear cleaner.
If you've lost confidence in your vets then move to another one. Clerical errors happen and that shouldnt be a reflection on the actual work the vets do themselves.

I too would wait for the vet to examine, diagnose and treat rather than put anything into the ears.   If you put the wrong, or inappropriate preparation in there you could just make a moist breeding ground for whatever is going on in there.

If you can't trust your current vet, there's nothing to stop you finding another!  And perhaps you should because it's pretty vital to use a vet you feel you can work with, with confidence.

Thanks for you both for your advice and I think I will wait till she's a vet, as I wouldn't like to make it worse for her,

Definitely vet first.

Then if treatment isn't working, elimination diet to rule out food allergies.  Then, Zymox.  But in that order.

I've used thornit for decades and never had to take a dog to the vet with ear problems.

Thank you for your reply were do I buy thornit from?

Amazon sell it .however after years of experience having ear problmes treated by a specialist vet I would get vets advise first incase there is infection
Unfortunately ours turned out to be allergens in the environment which made them hard to treat.

Another vote for Thornit here. If that doesn't work after a week or so, then go to the vet. Google it to find it for sale.

Personally I've found Zymox far better than Thornit.  Plus it can go right down into the ear canal, not just round the outside, which I think helps more with some of the harder cases.

I've not tried Zymox, but in truth, with a Basset ear, Thornit wasn't easy to administer.

My friends with bassets tried it for Harvey's smelly ears and they swear by it now.

I didn't say Thornit didn'[t work, just that it wasn't the easiest to administer.  So it never worked, with mine.

For information for anyine using it Dusting  just inside the ear flap with a make up brush or small paint brush is easiest.  Thornit isn't supposed to be put down the ear .
