Hi, pup is 13weeks old and sleeping well in crate at night in kitchen and other dog is in his bed in kitchen. I keep having to move crate from living area to kitchen for sleeping arrangements but he doesn't sleep in crate during the day he will not settle daytime, so my thoughts are what if i leave crate in kitchen for sleeping feeding and bones etc and for when i go out as thats where he would go anyway because the older dog stays in kitchen while im not around and having his bed in the living area? Would this work?

Try it and see. If he is getting more settle as it sounds then I would go for it
