Hi pup is now 11weeks old and older dog is really good with him… in fact to good to the point he isnt telling pup off for jumping and snapping at his face ears and any other parts of the body? Im worried if he doesn't tell pup the right thing to do puppy will grow up and still be like this with him ? is this the case has anyone had this issue please help.

Thanks

Why are you not taking charge of the situation?  Your older dog is being sooo good with the puppy but even if adults won't normally attack a puppy, there really is only so much they will put up with before they snap.  And that could happen when you are out and not there to sort out the situation.

I never had this issue with our puppies and adults because I didn't allow oukr puppies to be a nuisance.

Older dog  is being very good but as mamabas says u need to take control. That doesn't mean no interaction but u have to redirect the pups attention to other things when u feel its been too long
Teach him to come  to u for a reward distract him with a brief game. Use any gates or doors so older dog is given space.
Leaving it to the dogs is likley to mean one day
pup will become a bolshy adolescent and upset the older dog who finally snaps or pup has a go at the laid back older dog .
Puppy licence only works for so long

Geeze, being stuck with a puppy 24 7 is like being shut in a room with someone else's 3 year old. How d'you like that?

You're supposed to be the responsible adult here, so you need to ensure both your dogs get their needs met and the older dog gets peace and quiet by separating the puppy off using stair gates or similar...

I never said i allow it to continue ? I was asking a question is all theres not a chance i would leave him to be a nuisance to the older dog i know how risky that can be. I just wondered if anyone has had this issue!

Your puppy is very young & few adult dogs would actually "tell off" a puppy under 6 months of age. When they are fed up with the puppy, they will remove themselves out of the puppies reach, I know of one dog who opens his crate up & then goes inside & ends up keeping the door shut to get away from puppies :wink:

Some adult dogs will tolerate anything from puppies even if they don't like it and then you need to step in. However it may very well be a case of the pup still being so young. It should be the instinct of adults to let puppies get away with a lot until they are a certain age, Turid Rugaas describes is as "the puppy license". I've seen that many times and usually the day comes when the puppy can't get away with everything any longer.

If the little sh1t is pushing his luck with the adult then you have the options of redirecting the pups attention to something else be is a toy, training, chew etc. Remove the puppy and put in another room, pen or crate. Puppies I'm sure enough know at this age need a good 20hrs of sleep a day. Usually when they are causing havoc it's because they are over tired. So pop into a crate or pen with a chew/kong and let them settle and have the well needed nap.
Most pups push their luck with older dogs and yes we need to step in if the older dog is too laid back, even if they are telling the pup off usually pup will keep going back so we as the owners do need to step in and remove the puppy from the situation

I'm sort of replying to myself here lol.

I kept two puppies from my Poodle, they are 16 weeks old today. The mother has been so tolerant with them, and the only way she has had some peace is that she is able to get onto furniture etc which the pups can't yet. This morning I woke to a lot of noise and found it was the mother telling her pups off good and proper. So they day has arrived.

Part of bringing up a puppy means they have to learn not to cross boundaries, either with mum or, more importantly imo - YOU!!  Correcting the puppy teaches him to respect you and learn who actually is boss - again that's YOU.
