Hi all,

My bitch is expecting her first litter. She’s day 58 today. I’ve been taking her temps 12 hourly for the last couple of days.
My question is how long does the temperature drop last?
So this AM her temp had dropped from 38.1 yesterday to 36.9. I checked it again this afternoon and it was 36.8, and I’ve just checked it now and it’s still 36.8.
Now she is showing signs of the first stage, a lot of panting, digging, bed shredding, restlessness, but still has a good appetite. No discharge, and I can still feel the puppies moving, although not as much as previous days
So does the temp stay low, should I be worried?

Thanks in advance :)

Even if she does whelp now the pups will be viable

Just to say I never set much score on temperature taking.   You would see fluctuation in temperature but it's when it drops considerably, and stays down, that you should be able to expect whelping within 24 -48 hours.
