I need a new gate as Brooke can open the one I  have now , usually by stick her head underneath and pushing upwards . I would like one that doesn't have the bottom bar . Probably needs to be screwed into the door frame as the push ones seem to fall out from previous experience. Also I have to have it off the floor so cat can get underneath but not the dog. Or I shall just cut out one of the vertical bars.

Any recommendations please ?

One I had the handle needed to be pressed as well as lifted to raise it, but it had a bottom bar as most have. I’ve seen one that actually has a cat flap in it, but again a bottom bar.
Others seem to be a flexible material rather then a metal gate and those don’t have a bottom bar, but do you think Brooke would try and push through it as I have no idea how strong they are.

I have a Lindam baby gate. The handle when you put it all the way down locks in place so to open it you have to press in the bits either side of it and then lift. Although it's the type that has the adjustable bits to squash in place. But I find it sturdy it's never moved. I don't know if it comes with other attachments as I got is second hand.
Although I only lock it when im up stairs and I want to make sure the dogs stay up with me. I have it on the bottom step and Cain can't reach the handle from the hall so I don't have to lock it when were downstairs but he can from the other side which is useful in the mornings as if i just pull the handle down a bit he now opens it for me to save me bending as he has watch us use it. Fay hasn't picked up on how it works she's not as observant.

If you  go on Ebay, there's at least one there with no bottom bar - I bought one a while back with one and Frankie refused to step over it.   It had to to the local Charity shop!!

Its for a bedroom so cat can come and go and actually eat her food . Now she is older Nd arthritis an issue she can't get on to the worktop that I've always used . Anything low brooke will just eat it all
Will have alook at ones with cat flap because that will save me having to remove a bar so it's still dog proof bit not cat proof .its only temporary as lotus cat will be returning to my sons for her single story living with 2 slaves ! Just not for a while due to visitors with dog

Has anyone used pressure for ones ?
Previous ones I ve used didn't stay put i had to keep adjusting to stop them falling and eventually gave up and got the screw in ones

I have a pressure one on my dog room door but it does have a bottom bar. Never had a problem with it, really sturdy. You just keep unscrewing the knobs until they are tight on the wall.

Mine have a bottom bar and are pressure ones. I use Bettercare child and baby gate, the extra tall ones. All others have been killed by dogs who don't want to be apart from me, prong kicked through, that includes the Lindam ones. I know this isn't what you are looking for FF but in case anyone else is needing something a bit more robust, so far these have faired very well against mine.

Mine was a pressure one or could be fixed to the wall. I only used the pressure and it was fine for a silly large breed puppy as she grew.

Now that's really good to know jodi pressure would be so much easier

Trying to avoid bottom bar if I can sj as I already fall over matchsticks so don't trust myself .but will still look at more robust as she is really insistent

now you have got me looking at bettercare  white wooden better care ones ( The screw fit) would look much better by front door and safer than one I have now

I have these ones, cheap but work well, mine is fitted with a gap under it for the cats. You have to press the button on the top to open it so Brooke wouldn't be able to do it. No bottom bar to trip over.

I use Lindam wall mounted gates.  This is the latch:

On its side, obviously ;) The triangular bit moves so when the gate shuts, that is pushed aside then it moves back on top of the gate bar, so it can't be pushed upwards.  The more recent designs have an upper hinge design that can't be easily lifted, too.

The lifting is the problem with the current one .she can push her head underneath and the hinge side pops up and then the hole thing falls .to her delight
