Hello,
I got a question about toys.  Should I get a puppy kong or a regular kong for a giant breed puppy?  And if so what size?  Just trying to determine which size is best that would get the most usage.  I have taken a look at growth charts to get an idea for some other toys but just want to double check with others.

Thanks

You buy one that is to big for them to get in their mouths and swallow

Normally there is a recommended breed chart on them so you will have to check the packaging for your breed but to big is better than to small

Dogs have died chocking on toys stuck in their throats

with toys like kongs ,make sure you buy the ones that have a small hole at one end as well the large one you stuff through. Stops a vacuum building up and trapping the dogs tongue

Cool thanks for the tip.  I use to look at for things like this with children's toys but I'll take care to be mindful of it again.  For the kong I was also concerned about whether the puppy version (which is softer from my understanding) was a better choice or whether a 'regular' would be Ok?  It's annoying trying to 'guess' which size breed he will be as he grows.  Much easier if they put the weight as well but not all do this.  Ah, I was also looking a third party suppliers which didn't always have good details.  Just gone to the Kong website and much better breakdown.

Hooray, feel much better now.  How many toys do you have for you dogs on average?  That way the other half will not think I am mad during my shopping spree.

I start with a large red one for puppies and then move onto the giant black ones. This is the kongs with holes either end which you stuff with food.

If you're not sure, it is safer to err on the size of too big rather than too small...

Over a dozen each.
