Topic Dog Boards / General / anyone travelled on Brittany Ferries in dog friendly cabin?

Trying to imagine the days when we can travel again

Has anyone travelled with multiple dogs on Brittany Ferries? I was really excited to see they have dog friendly cabins to France... but then it says they accommodate 'one dog comfortably' and to call them if you have more than one dog.

I did some googling and found online they will take a max of 2 dogs. (Not sure if the size comes into this.) So what if you have 3 or 4 dogs? (Ahem.) Can you book two cabins and send your spouse to one with half your dogs and you have the other!?

Anyone done this?!

I haven't travelled on that route, but I've done the dog friendly cabin on DFDS from Newcastle to Amsterdam and would imagine it to be similar. You really wouldn't want to try to get more than 2 medium size dogs in those cabins, there's very little floor space.

On the Spanish route, the dog cabins will be booked within days of them being released. You will need to book around 12 months in advance. You are able to book a cabin for each adult. The return crossing is around £600 -£800 for two people and one dog. The alternative is the onboard kennels with unlimited access to the dog deck area.

Ohh what's it like? Is there an exercise area near the cabins? This route would save me a days driving but I've always just thought it's far too long a crossing for the dogs. A friend done it a few years ago but left her dog in the car, she said she had to book visits in advance then walk for ages to an exercise area, up narrow, open metal steps that she had to carry the dog up?

I always use the Harwich to Hook overnight crossing, I like it, but leaving from Newcastle would be easier

(Sorry 1234 for hijacking your post  )

I think it depends which ship you book as there are 2 but ours had the kennel area (which some people chose to use but you could access it any time, we didn't use it) at the end of the corridor, then the exercise area up a metal stairway, I think it was just a sandpit - we didn't use that either though as we were bringing a puppy home and she toileted before she got that far
It's a 17 hour crossing but as it's overnight it's really not that bad. Depends if you have a dog who refuses to pee anywhere but grass.

Ah that's a shame, but what I thought, not great for adult dogs, I'll stick to either Harwich/Hook or the tunnel, thanks though.
