Can anyone recommend a good quality 54in crate in the UK please? The other half isn't keen on the few we are seeing online. He thinks they look to flimsy. But hard to tell if we can't actually see it. Thanks

I've got a savic crate which is very substantial that I got off ebay .dont laugh it cost me £1 .that's was the small one
Well-worth looking on there as I also picked up a couple not savic ones for very good prices including a 54 inch for £5 that was used by my sisters gsd . Certainly strong enough for the job .
Thanks, I've been looking for that but can only find 118 cm. Maybe 122cm if I am lucky. But nothing close to the 54 inch in cm. Been searching endlessly on the used good and pet supply websites for a few months now. To the degree partner suggested using a large playpen out of desperation but neither really thought it was a safe long term option.

Doghealth do a 54" crate but the price is high, I got 2 of their slightly smaller ones about 12 years ago and both still perfect after daily use.
Oh that is good to know if it will last. Not keen on the price but if its good quality, we may just have to go with that. It will be for a Great Dane and I seen 48 inch for nearly half the price, I was concerned it would not suit. Then got to find a crate bed which takes up room height. I think I have done more prep work and freting over a puppies arrival then I ever did for any of my children.

https://www.barjo.co.uk/cages/indoor-cages have a word with Barjo. Not cheap but the car crates are very popular.
Other thought is do u need one for adult size .is your pup going to be using as an adult with it shut or would smaller be OK?
Although I don't have a crate up now only the bed mine used to use theirs when grown but as a bed not with door shut so smaller would be fine

Same crate, same firm but £17 cheaper direct from D H !
Thank you all for the suggestions. I missed the lower priced eBay one.
We were planning on assuming it would be used throughout its life. If it comes to a point in time that we didn't think it was necessary then happy to pack it away. I liked the idea of an elevated bed and transition from cage to that (as I don't think I could get the elevated bed low enough to fit in the crate and still have enough space when fully grown) as an example but I like to plan for assuming we will use the crate long term just in case.

If you can find a 2nd hand Croft one they are very good quality and go up to very large sizes, like 6ft which is suitable for a fully grown Dane.
Yeah we like this. I liked the kuranda inside the cage idea. But they got smaller legs and much more expensive.
I'll keep an eye out for these as well. Just bad luck can't find ones second hand that are big enough. Thanks

Keep at it if pup isnt arriving too soon hopefully u will find something suitable .

With any fold up crate I cable tie the joins, it makes them feel more stable and is much safer. I don't use crates for my own dogs but I've used them for rescues, who may bump against the crate and try to get out of they see a cat for example, but with all the joins cable tied they're not going to collapse on the dog, and yes I have seen this happen.
Thanks for the cable tie tip. My partner uses them quite frequently to secure things.
Yes, we got a few months yet before we need something. I've collected the various options selected and will relook at them all. Just annoying how the crate sizes seem readily available in the US but not here. I even went on the Savic website and the largest is only 118.

Yes I agree most crates have too few joiners, and reinforcing with cable ties helps a lot.
