I've finally managed to get my dogs' eye tests done today after a couple of cancellations over the past year.

Super slick operation. Didn't have to go inside at all. One person came out and took our details, paperwork and remainder of payment. Another came out to administer the drops. Twenty minutes later the same person came out and took each of my dogs in one by one. Then the specialist vet came out to give us our certificates and KC registration documents back.

I was dreading it a bit as I wasn't sure what to expect in these times but I would say it was actually easier than it was pre-COVID restrictions.

Glad it went well. I haven't needed a vet visit since lockdown as cats had annual vaccinations Feb 2020. Friend who has been to vet says it's all very smooth
- By masajackrussell [gb] Date 28.02.21 18:37 UTC
Thankyou. I've had to go to the vet for vaccinations but that's it. It was very smooth as well. Not sure quite why I thought it may not be today. I think maybe not going anywhere is making me forget what it is like to actually do something!!
- By furriefriends Date 28.02.21 18:46 UTC
I've been to the vets and referral vets so many times in the last 18 months I cant count.
In all cases it runs really smoothly and we are still able to have full discussions either by phone or at 2m
Infact I seem to be waiting less time than before

Maybe because people are less inclined to stand and chat in case they catch covid!

That's very possible :)

Noticed from previous posts that you are expecting test results. Genuinely hope it's positive news. Sure you'll post an update ...

Latest is brooke has been admitted to have nerve route cut and biopsy of strange spinal inflammation   yep she is a fcr so we all know what that could mean but keeping positive

Good on you - chin up!  Hopefully you'll be posting 'the way ahead' in her recovery next time x

Just a heads up for those who have had eye tests done. I believe they are no longer being sent directly to the KC so you now have to forward them on yourself.

What?!.. for goodness sakes lol. We'll be sending our hip and elbow scores over next

Yes I know so annoying
- By RozzieRetriever Date 28.03.21 09:05 UTC
Thank you for this. I was wondering why, after three months, the results still weren’t showing. The question is, how do I do that? Email with attachment?
- By masajackrussell [gb] Date 28.03.21 09:36 UTC
Yes just email the health.results@thekennelclub.org.uk with the attachments

We’ve had several vet visits and specialist consultations during lockdown, including cruciate surgery and also stitches after an incident with a boar! I have to say it’s less stressful for both us and the dogs with the new regime! Ours certainly feed of our anxiety and cope far better at the vets without us there!

Where did they announce this?

I know they announced that they would no longer print health results on registrations, expecting people to check on-line.

Have found that results for hereditary clear are being missed on records, even for 1st generation offspring of 2 clear tested parents.

I know they will not go further than 2nd generatuon with hereditary clear, since Jan 2021.

I don’t think that have! I only found out from someone on one of the Facebook goes and from people saying they haven’t had theirs added automatically and have been waiting a while.

They’ve added mine wrong as well. All are unaffected but they’ve put ‘observation made - refer to owner’ on all four! No observation is written on the certificate or was told to me by the vet who did the assessment either! Have emailed (Friday just gone) but expecting to have to call on Monday.

Thanks for the heads up masajackrussell.

This sounds like a relatively new thing, I took a litter of puppies to be eye tested in February and they didn't mention this to me. I have subsequently checked the KC website to see their results had been added.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 28.03.21 17:28 UTC
A lot of vets Don't send them straight in. The certificates are on a pad, and many send them in once they have a batch.

In the past when I needed results to show sooner or before registering a litter so they would show in pups registration, I scanned and sent in my copy.

Were they checked for a condition that is normally recorded  in your breed as that statement is usually used when they dont record that specific test for the breed.Meaning they have made a note they were tested but refer to you for the result
- By masajackrussell [gb] Date 28.03.21 19:19 UTC
They just had the standard eye test as required (not gonioscopy). The last one for one of my dogs went on as unaffected and then the other two (only had three at the time) said results with owner. All were and still are unaffected.

So it doesn’t mean they made a note of a condition (that’s how it reads to me)?
- By satincollie (Moderator) Date 28.03.21 19:26 UTC
No they noted the test had it posted on one of mine before gonioscopy was recorded for us. edited to add dont know why in this case when you say it was a standard eye test obviously an  error

Thank you. Hopefully they will reply to my email and I won’t have to spend hours on hold

Email received apologising for their error and all have now been marked as unaffected. They have taken the results of the previous eye test off for two of them though... who knows why! Worth asking them to put them back on??
- By furriefriends Date 29.03.21 14:54 UTC
Surely it would look better to have their historic records right as well ?
- By masajackrussell [gb] Date 29.03.21 15:37 UTC Upvotes 1
Yes I think you are right FF. I shall reply!

The KC are a dysfunctional inefficient organisation.
I have been waiting since December 2020 for the correct health results to be posted despite numerous email, pone calls and exasperated letters to CEO.
Still Gonioscopy not recorded.
Like the lady said the vets list was a breeze, good service and quick. The only disturbing thing was it was at an animal hospital with 3 and 2 legged dogs been waled to their owner and we had 5 very healthy Spaniels, so I felt guilty.
Just do not see value given bt KC. They need a change at the top to resolve the issues within the organisation.
