- By annmarq [gb] Date 08.01.21 14:20 UTC
I am trying to find somwhere to get my Laborador hip scored in Devon. My vet isnt currently doing them I tried south Devon vets who only do dogs that are registered with them. Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Can u not register your dog with them ? U don't have to use them after this if u don't want to

Mercury vets are probably the best in Devon for it.

It's probably not much point doing x-rays at the moment seeing as the scoring backlog is so very bad -it would be around 4 months or more to get the results.

Backlog aside, no one  should be doing xrays for the BVA at the mo. We are only supposed to travel for essential animal health reasons. X-rays can wait a couple months.

Last I heard recently is there working threw the backlog during the lockdown however for new scoring it shouldn't be happening as bva has said vets ment to be only doing essential necessary treatment during the lockdown.

Absolutely and I think it was Tectona who offered up Mercury Vets in Devon so if I were you, I'd phone & enquire despite all the 'out lying' responses.
I was advised to look at Xrays being sent to the Australian BVA who have a very quick turnround although slightly different criteria.  It would give
you a good idea of whether your girl should be bred from or not.  hope this helps X

Definitely give Mercury Vets a ring. They do a lot of scoring so know about proper positioning, they run clinics and stuff (in normal times) too. I tend to go to Southern Canine Imaging from Devon but when I wanted a quick look at my setter as he seemed too immature to score at a year I went to them. I was happy with the quality of the images. Know lots of people who have used them.
