Good day all, we have just lost our beloved Irish setter to cancer at 9 years old. We live in South Africa. Our dog is our family and lives with us for 8 months in the Southern Drakensberg mountain area on a small holding of 35 acres with dams and a river. During the summer she will be in the Western Cape near the Atlantic ocean. We are looking for a female Gordon setter. Advice on Passport, flights, jabs etc would be appreciated. Any breeder happy to send to us would be appreciated. I could collect but not sure about the pandemic and movements around the world at the moment. Thank you for your consideration. Denise Hadlow, Durbanville, Western Cape, South Africa.

I suggest u contact breeders direct in that section on here and discuss their litter plans and your particular situation . In the uk currently die to covid many good breeders have been postponing their plans and dogs that are available are at very high prices  .
Given that u are looking to import it may be even more tricky but I habe no experience
Your other option which may even be better place to start is by  contacting the relevant beed club and see what information they can give you . those are also listed in the breeder section for.the breed concerned

I'd contact breeders via the breed club.

Then I would contact Overhill kennels, who have always provided an excellent service when I have exported, and imported.

There are many export providers, but the owner at Overhill is a long standing Kennel Club member and judge, with a reputation in the UK Dog Community.

Maybe it might be worth trying a breeder in South Africa with the current covid situation.

I only know of one Irish setter breeder in South Africa
I have no dealings with them so can't say whether I recommend them or not, but I'd say it would be worth it to contact breeders other there and see how you feel about them.

Ask for proof of all health testing and as always never take the breeders word without question if you don't know them. Don't get a puppy just because they have one either, it's best to wait for the right pup than support irresponsible breeding.
