Hi all I have posted here looking for some advice
4 weeks ago my sweet girl had 5 beautiful pups all doing really well and so is mumma dog. She had some discharge for a week after welping then it all stopped tonight after her going to lye down out of the blue she has lost a lot of bright red blood I didn’t notice until I let her out for a wee and noticed blood on her bed after checking the pups where ok and mum had come back inside from doing her business I realised it was coming from mum although it wasn’t a major amount it was enough to be consurning so I called my vet At this point the bleeding had stopped so my vet advised it’s not uncommon and that as long as it don’t have any smell or any discolour that’s it was fine and to keep an eye on her to see if it carry’s on . So after about an hour she has a little more blood sort of now like when a bitch is almost stopped bleeding when in heat I have bred a few litters before and have never seen this happen 4weeks after giving birth my question is is this considered normal?
Has anyone had this happen before I’m really worried my vet is very helpful and on hand if needed but I don’t want to stress my girl out if can be avoided Thankyou for taking time to read this

If it's just a small amount or not a huge amount, then don't worry, it's pretty normal. If it is a a huge amount of red blood, she could be haemorrhaging and it's an emergency.
