I couldn’t get her groomed in the first lockdown so had to make do with my scissors and hubby’s male grooming clippers. The poodle hair collects in the ‘adapter’ that you attach to the clippers, so not ideal.
Now my groomer can’t do her again as she is ill, so I think it’s time to get myself a pair of clippers.
I don’t want to pay a lot as I don’t intend to actually groom her myself permanently, it’s just to keep her comfortable if I can’t get her groomed by my usual lady.
So any suggestions, and which adapters I’d need for which bits of her.
Thanks.

For a while I used to buy cheapo cordless clippers on Amazon, around £15-£20 (saw them for a tenner on Black Friday), gold coloured with a black cartoon dog on -they seem to be sold under many names. They were easy to use in the sense that they were lightweight and cordless. You could use the plastic attachments (which I found useless) or just adjust the clipper blade length on the clippers themselves. They weren't bad for the money but I found they did cause cuts on both face and paws as that's such a short clip (normally on higher priced clippers no 15 blade). I went through two pairs then got an Oster A6. TBH the cheap ones were much easier to handle but I hated how they kept causing injuries. They'd be okay though if you're not too bothered about a really clean face and feet.

I have always been a believer in you get what you pay for and my WHAL Clippers are the only ones I would recommend. Cordless but not necessarily lightweight, they do need to have blade oil every so often but I have never injured a dog with them, which is the most important thing.
Thanks for your replies. The Wahl don’t look too badly priced, and I like the fact that some of them are quiet and low vibration as she is a very nervous dog.

Just ordered some of the cheaper Wahl ones for doing River’s hocks and pasterns, and one with a tiny head for between the pads. :)
At least there isn’t much to do on a Papillon and you don’t need to cut close!
I’ve taken the plunge and ordered some Wahl, and a small trimmer for feet as I don’t trust myself with the big set !
Thanks all

St.Domingo:Maybe watch a few U tube videos of grooming first. If you take your time you'll both be fine. The first time I used clippers it was a 2 day operation as I was more frightened of them than my poor dog was! Good Luck
