Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Slow to whelp when to worry

Bitches due date is tomorrow from 1st tie or Monday from 2nd tie she had ovulated as she was blood tested. This is the bitches 3rd litter and normally whelps 1/2 days from her 1st tie. She has been picky with her food since Tuesday, nesting, no panting/being restless. I have taken her temp since Tuesday with it going down to 37.2c on Wednesday since them her temps gone up and on ave is 38c. She happy in herself, when do I start to worry she isn't moving forward and needs a trip to the vet.

>Bitches due date is tomorrow

Bitches don't have 'due dates', they have 'whelping windows': Many days over which they may whelp.

If you didn't do any progesterone testing and there were 2 matings, you have quite a wide whelping window. A bitch can conceive immediately the day of the first mating, or she may have conceived about 5 days after the 2nd mating...

>This is the bitches 3rd litter and normally whelps 1/2 days from her 1st tie

There is no pattern to this and what she has done on previous litters has zero bearing on what happens for this litter.

Thank you i know bitches dont have due dates and each litter is different but this bitch has a patteren were she is 1 or 2 days early its a patteren.  She did have progesterone test done like i do any time I mate a bitch. I was more worried as I have never had a bitch go over their "window".

What was the result of the progesterone tests, on what date? It isn't possible to pinpoint ovulation from a single test...
- By Karzop [gb] Date 01.11.20 22:11 UTC
She had 2 test again like I all ways do and who I use is bang om never had a bitch miss yet with them
- By onetwothreefour Date 01.11.20 23:10 UTC
Well, it's about what the results were and knowing (now) when she ovulated. That information is not just about getting a bitch pregnant. It's about identifying the whelping window now. Her whelping window can be calculated down to about 48 hours from her progesterone results and dates.

No Im not missing the point you are. I asked when I start to worry as this bitch doesnt go over. Her results told me she is due today or tomrrow end of.
- By onetwothreefour Date 02.11.20 10:02 UTC
No, not really.

Not only do you not understand, you don't even realise that you don't understand and you're not even trying to understand. So I'm not really sure why you even posted here in the first place. I'll just give up after this.

You stated:

>Bitches due date is tomorrow from 1st tie or Monday from 2nd tie

That statement only demonstrates that you don't understand. When she was mated makes no difference to when she is due. The only thing that matters is when she ovulated. She could have been bred 6 times or just once, 3 days earlier than she was or 4 days later. It makes no difference. You can't calculate anything from breeding dates.

If you are making statements about her due date in relation to breeding dates, you are demonstrating that you don't understand this key concept.

You are then STILL saying:

>Her results told me she is due today or tomrrow end of.

Er, no. You're just repeating what you said to start with and still don't get it and are missing the point

Look, it's impossible for anyone to help you unless you give the actual dates and the actual numerical results of your progesterone tests. Even with those, there may not be enough information if you only tested twice, but there might be. If you can't give those, then we can't help you.

You need to go to the vet if you get to day 65 FROM OVULATION without any puppies. That's not day 65 from first breeding or 2nd breeding or anything else - it's from OVULATION.

And you havent read what i put So she HAD ovulated  as blood test show that so when she had her 1st tie SHE HAD OVULATED and when he had her 2nd tie SHE HAD OVULATED I'm not daft. Again it was more she hadnt done what she normaly doesVet shall see her later today
- By Brainless [gb] Date 02.11.20 11:26 UTC
I think the question being asked was WHEN did she ovulate, and has she gone 65 days from that date.

Are you going to have reverse Progesterone to check if  C section is needed?
- By Karzop [gb] Date 02.11.20 11:31 UTC
Yes had ovulated when mated and the 65 days would be yesterday if you count from 1st mating and 65 days today from 2nd mating. I know people allow bitches to go over their 65 days I have never had too. She will see the vet this afternoon and go from there
