I’m looking at buying my first dog. When I lived with parents we had a border collie but I essentially just played with the dog.

I’m doing my research into breeds but we’re could I find a list of things that I need to buy prior to bringing in a puppy?

Go buy a copy of the book The Perfect Puppy by Gwen Bailey.  Its one of the very best introductions to what is needed, how to choose and how to rear/train

Also Before https://www.dogstardaily.com/training/you-get-your-puppy and After  you get your puppy https://www.dogstardaily.com/training/after-you-get-your-puppy by Dr Ian  Dunbar, free to download.

The whole Dog Star Daily site https://www.dogstardaily.com/ is full of useful seminars, training etc tools.

First pick your breed but take your time making sure you pick the right breed.

Make a list of what you want in a dog and what you can handle ect. The find the breeds that suit your needs and go and meet them in person until you get down to one breed that right for you.

I would advise reading lots on the chosen breed.

Then take your time picking the right breeder which is very very important.

I reccomend picking the perfect puppy by pippa mattinson. It helped us pick our lab.

Good luck
