Hi all, first thanks for accepting me. I'm currently looking for another boxer after I lost mine just before corona virus had its way this the country. My boy Dexter died on 27th of Feb and he would have been 11 years old on the 28th. He was my best friend and went everywhere with me so I took the loss quite badly. However I am in need of that friendship again. I have messaged a few breeders.
Feeling hopeful
Thanks
Paul

Paul I'm so sorry for your loss - it hurts.   However, please use this time while the country is still in lockdown, to decide what to do and where to look for your next best friend.  I'm in a similar situation, having had to give one of my then two peace at the end of April.

To be honest, my head was all over the place, and still is to some extent, so it's just as well I'm having to wait when it comes to taking in another (which won't be a puppy).   Reputable breeders have curtailed their breeding plans at the moment, leaving the BYBs having a field day re their charges for what is almost bound to be inferior stock.   What's going on out there is just ridiculous in terms of prices (if they are getting what they are asking?).  Of course if you have the means to buy at these inflated prices, it's up to you whether to do so but remember, the buy in price is only the start - and with BYBred puppies, your vet bills are probably going to be correspondingly high through the life of the puppy.

For the reasons mamabas has given, I would hold off for now, as hard as it is.  Chances are any puppies available right now are not going to be well bred ones.

Thanks folks. It's been 4 months since I lost my boy and for me a dog is therapy I'm in a much better place mentally when I have that companionship, so waiting is what I've been doing but Its getting difficult. Even rescue dogs are hard to get as having a 7 year old kid seems to take us out of their "forever home" specifications.
