I am having some problems with my puppy. She does the usual puppy biting / growling with toys etc. She also "plays" with our 2 year old dog / littermate style play but she can get quite rough. But if she is doing something that I have to remove her from situation eg, she was digging holes, and tried telling no, or bring her back inside house, or lift her off border she had jumped onto etc, when I pick her up to remove her from situation  she snarls / growls / tries to bite me . I have had dogs before and not ecperienced this :-(

most puppies and dogs hate to be picked up! It must feel like a roller-coaster does to us, suddenly being swooped up high into the air, leaving their tummies behind them. So they protest in the only way they know how! Instead of picking her up, try luring her away with a treat, and then you can praise and reward her.

or even just pop a lead on her to remove her and praise when she does - anything that means no hands on her

Time for a positive interrupter!  Dead easy to train, totally hands-free, zero confrontation.  Brilliant 'tool'.

You use it to interrupt/distract puppy from what she's doing, then you give her something else to do instead.  That last part is very important - the interrupter is immediate, but you've then got to take her mind off what she was doing.
